Executive Summary
The video introduces Dungeons of Fortune, a newly launched crypto game on the Base L2 network, blending gameplay with potential financial rewards. The game revolves around minting NFT heroes, sending them into dungeons to earn rewards, and leveraging a unique in-game economy centered around the $COINS token. Here’s a breakdown of the key details:
Dungeons of Fortune
- Core Functionality: A play-to-earn crypto game where players mint NFT heroes, send them into dungeons to earn $COINS, and level up their characters. Heroes can die and be staked in the graveyard to earn passive rewards.
- Recent Updates: The game launched recently, with 16,000 out of 20,000 heroes already minted. The in-game currency, $COINS, is tradable on decentralized exchanges.
- Reason to Farm: Early adopters can benefit from the game’s nascent stage, potential NFT appreciation, and passive earnings from graveyard staking. The $COINS token has a low market cap (~$393K), offering speculative upside.
- Participation:
- Mint a hero for $50 (or buy one on OpenSea for cheaper).
- Spend $COINS to enter dungeons (tiers: 200, 1,000, or 5,000 $COINS).
- Heroes earn rewards if they survive or go to the graveyard if they die, earning 2% of all in-game $COINS spent.
- Rewards can be claimed from the smelter or staked in the bank for additional yields.
Insights and Strategy
- Early Advantage: The game is fresh, and early participants can capitalize on lower NFT prices and higher rewards.
- Graveyard Strategy: Heroes in the graveyard earn passive income, making it a viable long-term play.
- Token Utility: $COINS is burned in-game, creating deflationary pressure, while graveyard rewards incentivize holding.
Why It Matters
For airdrop hunters, this game offers a dual opportunity:
- NFT Appreciation: Heroes can be leveled up and sold for profit.
- Token Rewards: Active gameplay and graveyard staking yield $COINS, which could appreciate as the game grows.

In today's video we're going to take a look at this new crypto game that just launched on the base L2 and this is going to be a mixture of potentially a money-making opportunity and potentially something that you can actually have fun with. Now this game literally just launched less than an hour ago so yes it is still early. They also have an in-game currency that launched at the same time which is currently trading at a market cap of 393,000 but we'll get to that shortly. So the TLDR on this game is basically you mint a hero which is an actual NFT that goes to your base wallet and then once you have that you can send the hero to a dungeon where you can potentially earn additional rewards and level it up. Now if your hero dies it goes to the graveyard but that's not necessarily a bad thing because this is kind of like staking NFTs permanently I guess and the dead heroes that you have in your graveyard will actually earn you more of the in-game currency called coins. So let me break down what this is and then I'll also give a simple step-by-step walkthrough of how this gameplay works. So the game is called Dungeons of Fortune. You can access the game's interface via the link below. Now if you want to actually participate in this the first step is to go to the tavern and check out if the mint is still on. So as of the time of this recording so far there's just under 16,000 heroes that have been minted out of a total cap of 20,000. I minted seven in my portfolio here and each mint is 50 US dollars. You can mint one by simply clicking on this button right here. So obviously do your own research and understand the risks associated with this before minting it because of course that is real money. Now if you do decide to mint a hero the gameplay is as follows. So once you have one you can enter a dungeon with it by spending some coins. There's three different types of dungeons or three different tiers and entering each one costs a different amount. So the lowest level one costs 200 coins and the highest level one costs 5,000 coins. Obviously the rewards of entering the different dungeons will be greater as you go up in tier. So now you're in the dungeon you can watch your hero play through it and there's basically two possibilities. Either it survives in which case your hero gets experience points to level up and earns more coins or your hero dies. So if the hero survives you can just continue repeating the process. There is actually a cool down period. So if I go here to the tavern I sent four of my heroes into the lowest level dungeon already and so now I'm just waiting for them to be available again. So that's the first loop. Now if the hero dies there's a couple things that happen. For starters if the hero has any valor associated with it it converts into souls which you have up here. But also if hero dies it goes to the graveyard where it will perpetually earn two percent of all of the coins spent in the game. Two percent of all coins spent in the game go to graveyard heroes and all of the other coins that are spent in game are burned. So yeah that is the basic loop. Now I've already minted a bunch of these and in terms of the strategy the ideal situation is to try and get some heroes into the graveyard so that you can earn additional coins and then keep playing the game. So I'm going to go to the dungeon here. I'm going to try to enter. Oh and by the way there's different tiers of heroes. I don't think I spoke about this yet but the more stars that it has the better it is and also it has higher likelihood of earning experience points and items from entering these different dungeons. So let's say I'm going to try and have one of my silver heroes enter the mid-level dungeon and we'll see if we can get it to die and end up in the graveyard. All of these transactions are on base however you will need to have some coins in your wallet in order to do anything in this game and you can get those via any decentralized exchange. This is the deck screener CA but yeah I swapped into some coins just on Uniswap. So there's liquidity seeded already and it's very easy to get some coins. Anyways yeah back here let's spend 1000 coins and send one of my silver tier heroes into the mid-level dungeon. So once you pay the entry fee basically you get this little animation and we see what happens. You can skip through it if you want or you can just watch it. I'm not controlling any of this. This is just happening automatically based on my hero's tier level, its strength and so each time you kill one of these little things you earn coins. As you can see I've been earning a decent amount by going through these. Okay and now it looks like we have a bit of a boss fight here so my hero is trying to take down this thing. Now my ideal situation here would be to have this thing die so that he goes to the graveyard and then we can see what happens. I'm not sure if that's actually going to happen. Okay no so my hero did not die unfortunately but I earned 600 coins out of that run. I earned a bunch of experience points and I earned 400 valor as well. Now one important thing to note is when you complete a dungeon run the coins don't go automatically to your wallet. They go to the smelter. So as you can see I am earning or smelting this many coins from my previous runs and it comes through periodically and when you want to claim some you can click on this button down here to claim it. So I think actually what I'm going to have to do is wait till one of my lower level guys finishes up with the cooldown send him to the mid-level dungeon and I'm sure he will die. Now in terms of other things that you can do with the coins you can add them to the bank via the manor. So if you click bank you can make a deposit and you can earn additional rewards on that. There's also a shop where you can purchase items and these will actually you know add boosts in game to your heroes and help them go through the dungeons faster and earn better things. There's also a full gameplay walkthrough and breakdown and it shows you you know the drop rates of different items and how the experience adds up and what you can do with you know a dead hero and the valor that you earn. You can equip items if you get them in the game as well as those daily consumables and also every time that you come back each day rather you can get one free item that you can then equip to your hero in the tavern. So yeah that is basically the TLDR on this. Let's go back to the dungeon and send my top level three star hero in here and see what happens with this guy. So yeah I think this is a fun little game. There's a lot of possibility with it. It literally just launched today. I learned about it from ICO Beast who posted about it. He minted 20 of these heroes so I decided to check it out and it actually looks pretty cool. I'm going to be messing around with it. I think it's an interesting opportunity since it literally just started and who knows whether or not this in-game currency coins is actually going to be worth something. Whether or not these heroes these NFTs that we're minting are actually going to be worth something. Okay so that was actually a really good run. I spent a thousand coins to go in but I earned a thousand coins. I got a bunch of XP as well. So I'm smelting a lot of coins now so soon I'll be able to do more dungeon runs and actually if we go to the tavern you can see the progress of your characters towards the next level up here. In terms of actually selling the NFTs that you buy the heroes are trading on secondary so there's also speculation on the price of the NFTs and as you level them up theoretically they should be worth more. And actually you can buy a hero for less than the mint price because yeah some of the lower level ones are obviously not worth $50. So if you're interested in participating in this but you don't want to spend $50 you can actually come over to OpenSea and pick one of them up for 0.015 ETH which is actually about $25. So hopefully you found this little tutorial helpful. Thanks so much for watching and good luck if you decide to try out this new crypto game on base.
